The Classic Wrap Shirt – Three Ways

What do you look for in a wardrobe investment piece? Quality? Versatility? Wow factor? Timelessness? A garment that fits and flatters so well that you can’t bear to leave the boutique without it? The Classic Wrap Shirt ($279.00) from Living Silk has all of that in spades. Let’s talk quality – it’s 100% silk – which means if you look after it you’ll be wearing it for the next 20 years or more! As for versatility, I’ve styled and tied this shirt three different ways for three very different looks – (the ever elusive) smart casual, corporate and evening. Smart Casual I’ve worn the classic wrap shirt here over ripped white jeans with heels. I’ve also tied this shirt at the front. Now, of course you could also wear flats with this look too. Corporate To take this shirt to work, I’ve worn it tied at the back over a black pencil skirt with simple black heels. You could also wear it over some tailored pants if pencil skirts are not your thing. Evening This look is perfect for special events. You’ll notice I’ve tucked the shirt in this time and added some sparkly earrings and heels (and champagne!). Now, the fit. This shirt is true to size. I usually wear a 10-12/M in tops and in the images above I’m wearing a medium. The wonderful thing about this wrap style is that you can tie it as tightly or loosely as you’re comfortable with, so you know you’re going to find your perfect fit. This shirt is well worth popping into Living Silk’s Brisbane boutique (La Trobe Tce, Paddington) for. Do yourself...

The Teacher’s Wardrobe

I love a good fashion event – and one featuring Sacha Drake’s designs is pretty hard to beat. Earlier this week I was lucky enough to be involved in The Teacher’s Wardrobe – an event organised by @point2pointeducation at Sacha Drake’s Paddington boutique. Amazing pieces from the Solutions Collection were showcased and Brenda (one of the gorgeous Sacha Drake stylists) demonstrated the versatility of these garments, showing how they can easily be worn both in and out of the classroom. I wore four outfits on the night. First up was the Catelyn Convertible Dress. As the name suggests, this dress can be worn in multiple different ways to suit all body shapes. It comes with a tube skirt that can be worn in different positions on the body, a tie that can also be worn in different positions and buttons that can be used in different ways. Next was the 3/4 Sleeve Shirt with the Stretchy Pencil Skirt. I already own both these garments and easily mix and match them constantly with the rest of my wardrobe. I love tying the shirt into a knot or wearing it open over a simple tee. The skirt works beautifully with just about any top and I’ve worn it with both heels and flats. The third outfit I wore was the Deanna Cap Sleeve Dress – the ultimate all rounder. This dress suits all body shapes and bust lines, and my favourite feature of this dress is that it has no side seams to slim the hips! My final outfit for the night was the Solange Loose Fit Jumpsuit. The sleeves can...
