SheIn -Your Online Fashion Black&White Dress

So one of my lovely teacher colleagues approached me in the staffroom a few days ago with a style dilemma.  She’d been given a gorgeous leopard print scarf from a dear friend but wasn’t sure how to pair it with items in her existing wardrobe.

Enter stage left – me, with my love/obsession with animal print.  Here’s some of the advice I gave my colleague.

There’s a very good reason why this animal print ‘trend’ keeps coming back – it’s a NEUTRAL.  Allow me to explain … Think of the colours that animal print pieces usually are – browns, beiges, black and white – right? And what do we call shades of brown, beige, black and white?  That’s right – neutrals!

1960300If you’re new to animal print or worried that that it might be a bit much for you, try the look in small doses such as a scarf, clutch bag or some cute flats.  Pictured, Witchery have amazingly comfortable and funky animal print flats that are on sale right now (run, don’t walk!).

For those a little more brave, the leopard print shift dress from Target is bang on trend right now.  I also love an animal print top paired simply  with black pants or jeans, or you could try a super-comfy pair of animal print pants like those from Seed paired with a neutral top.

Now for the super adventurous fashionistas – the pattern clash.  Animal print is perfect for a pattern clash, just make sure there’s one colour (eg. black) that both patterns share to link them together.

So it’s no surprise that this week’s #wearwithmewednesday theme is animal print … I’d love to see your animal print style – please share your pic with me on Facebook or Instagram tagging @thestylishteacher when you do.
