How to Wear: Military

Military: it’s the trend all the fashionistas are owning right now. On my side of the world we’re officially in Autumn (though I’m still waiting for the temperature to drop – Autumn, where are you? Seriously, we need you. Stat.), which is the perfect time of year for everyone’s favourite colour of the moment – khaki. There’s a lot to love about this season’s khaki pieces – they’re versatile, rich and add an edgy vibe to your look. Check out some inspo below and join me and @brisbaneteacherstyle for The Khaki Edition of #wearwithuswednesday. Don’t forget to share your pic with us – we love seeing how you style our themes! Florals = Pretty

Regardless of season, thanks to Mother Nature, florals are always ‘in’. And everybody has a floral piece in their wardrobe – whether it’s on high rotation or hidden away awaiting rediscovery – this is the week to let your florals bloom! There’s florals that appeal to every taste too – from soft, watercolour petals to full on flower power. Floral pattern clash? Absolutely! Just make sure that both your patterns have one colour in common to link the two together. Join me this week for the floral edition of #wearwithmewednesday! Just tag me, The Stylish Teacher, in your floral pic on Facebook or Instagram and use the hashtag #wearwithmewednesday so I can see your style. Check out some floral inspiration below – hand picked just for you! I even included some inspo for UK and US followers too. How to Wear: Animal Print

So one of my lovely teacher colleagues approached me in the staffroom a few days ago with a style dilemma.  She’d been given a gorgeous leopard print scarf from a dear friend but wasn’t sure how to pair it with items in her existing wardrobe. Enter stage left – me, with my love/obsession with animal print.  Here’s some of the advice I gave my colleague. There’s a very good reason why this animal print ‘trend’ keeps coming back – it’s a NEUTRAL.  Allow me to explain … Think of the colours that animal print pieces usually are – browns, beiges, black and white – right? And what do we call shades of brown, beige, black and white?  That’s right – neutrals! If you’re new to animal print or worried that that it might be a bit much for you, try the look in small doses such as a scarf, clutch bag or some cute flats.  Pictured, Witchery have amazingly comfortable and funky animal print flats that are on sale right now (run, don’t walk!). For those a little more brave, the leopard print shift dress from Target is bang on trend right now.  I also love an animal print top paired simply  with black pants or jeans, or you could try a super-comfy pair of animal print pants like those from Seed paired with a neutral top. Now for the super adventurous fashionistas – the pattern clash.  Animal print is perfect for a pattern clash, just make sure there’s one colour (eg. black) that both patterns share to link them together. So it’s no surprise that this week’s #wearwithmewednesday theme...

So, who is The Stylish Teacher anyway?

So, stylish + teacher = me! Ha! Alright here goes… Yes, I am a teacher and I really do love my job. I also love styling and fashion so I’m indulging that side of myself here. I’m a wife and mum to two beautiful, photobombing children. I am a lover of a bargain and luxurious items I really can’t afford alike (shh! Don’t tell my hubby!). I love wardrobe basics and I adore show stopping pieces that get everyone’s attention. Shoes are my absolute weakness! I am not a size 6 or 8 or even a 10. And I’m ok with that. Because I don’t believe you have to be a certain size or shape to look and feel amazing. Even though I’m a teacher I don’t like a lot of rules when it comes to personal style (I think I have enough rules at work!). If you love a certain item of clothing or accessory – I say wear it. If you love a certain colour – I say wear it. Wear what makes you feel great. Now here’s where my ‘styling know-how’ comes into play… I can teach you how to wear those certain items of clothing or accessories so that they highlight your best features and make you look and feel even better! I can help you organise your wardrobe so that you always have something to wear that makes you feel wonderful when you step out into the world every day. Come see me on Instagram and Facebook and join in every week for the fun that is #wearwithmewednesday where every week I (or you!)...
